Guest lecture of German and Croatian President at the Faculty of Law in Zagreb

German President Joachim Gauck and Croatian President Ivo Josipovic held lectures on "Morality and Politics" on 7th December 2012 at the Faculty of Law. The event was moderated by prof. Josip Kregar and attended by the Rector of the University of Zagreb, Dean of the Faculty of Law professor Zoran Parać and a wide student audience.

Highlighting intertwining of morality, politics and law, president Josipovic recalled the process of privatization in Croatia.

German President Gauck first talked about the upcoming Croatian accession to the EU and tasks that must be fulfilled, followed by talk about the role of youth in the postwar period. He stressed that the law should never adapt to politics. Both Croatian and numerous influential German media covered the event:Frankfurter Allgemeine (http://www.faz.net/frankfurter-allgemeine-zeitung/unterstuetzung-fuer-kroatien-11986014.html), Die Welt (http://www.welt.de/politik/deutschland/article111888011/Eine-Nation-verliert-sich-nicht-wenn-sie-bereut.html), Spiegel (http://www.spiegel.de/politik/ausland/gauck-in-zagreb-bundespraesident-ermuntert-kroaten-zu-eu-beitritt-a-871566.html).
