Henrik-Riko Held

Born in Dubrovnik, Republic of Croatia, where he graduated from primary school and highschool. Enrolled at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb in 2005 and graduated integrated undergraduate and graduate law studies (mag. iur., LL.M.) in 2010 magna cum laude. In 2011 he started postgraduate doctoral studies in civil law and family law sciences at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb and in 2015 he successfully defended his PhD thesis titled "Origins and Development of the Condiction Models of Protection in Roman Legal Tradition" in the field of Roman law.

He also studied philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, where he passed the course of ancient Greek.

Attended postdoctoral international scientific seminars in the Centro di studi e ricerche sui Diritti Antichi (CEDANT), Almo Collegio Borromeo, Università degli Studi di Pavia (2016, “Le Istituzioni di Gaio: avventure di un bestseller. Trasmissione, uso e trasformazione del testo”) and in the Istituto di Studi sulle Società del Mediterraneo-CNR, Napoli (2019, “Il notaio nella società nell’Europa mediterranea (secc. XIV-XIX)”).

He was awarded as the best graduated student in the academic year 2010/2011. He was awarded as the best student at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb for the academic years 2005/2006, 2006/2007 and 2007/2008. He was a fellow of the Zlatko Crnić Foundation for the academic years 2007/2008 and 2008/2009.

As a student he participated in the international competition Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna in 2010.

He has published numerous papers in the field of Roman law, medieval legal history, canon law and comparative private law, and he actively participated in many international scientific conferences where he presented papers.

Ordinary member of the Croatian Academy of Legal Sciences (Academia scientiarum iuridicarum Croatiae).

Ordinary member of the Croatian Canon Law Society (Consociatio canonistica Croatica).

Member of the editorial board of the Zagreb Law Review.
