Cognitive Skills:
After successfully completing the course, students will be able to:
1. explain the role of theory in research and practice of social work
2. explain the manner of origin of theory in social sciences and social work
3. describe theoretical directions significant for social work and explain their application in understanding social problems and conceptualisation of social work practice
4. connect the characteristics of dominantly theoretical discourse with the trends in the development of social work profession
5.prepare an interpretation and compare approaches to certain social problem from the aspect of key theoretical approaches in social work (psychoanalytical, behavioural, systematic, existential-humanistic, radical, critical, social-constructivistic approach)
6. propose adequate social work interventions for a selected social problem starting from key theoretical approaches in social work
7. compare and evaluate the usage of kew theoretical approaches in understanding selected social problem and proposal of interventions in social work
Practical and Generic Skills:

- Written exam consists of 30 questions with offered answers of factual type and open type with essay answers
- Students who enrolled in the course for the first time in 2014/15 can take threemid-term exams. 10points can be earned in each mid-term exam (30 points overall).
- Grading criteria:
0-59.99 %: insufficient (1)
60.00 – 69.99 %: sufficient (2)
70.00- 79.99 %: good (3)
80.00-89.99 %: very good (4)
90.00 – 100.00 %: excellent (5)
